The U.S. House Judiciary Committee on Monday issued a report citing Attorney General William Barr for contempt over a panel subpoena seeking Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s full unredacted report on his Russia investigation.

The committee set a meeting to consider adopting the report for Wednesday at 10 a.m. EDT (1400 GMT). A committee vote to adopt the report would send the document to the full House of Representatives for a vote, according to an aide.

The report calls on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to take all appropriate action to enforce the subpoena issued by committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler on April 19.

  1. i had heard that the process of holding Barr in contempt of Congress could be dragged out for months, possibly longer. the ability to hold anyone accountable in this administration has been basically 0.

  2. Barr perjured himself at last week’s hearing when he stated on the record when questioned by Kamala Harris that he didn’t know what Mueller’s position on Barr’s memo was. We know that Mueller sent Barr a letter on March 27th stating how unhappy he was with that. If Barr doesn’t resign he needs to either be held in contempt and jailed, or impeached. Period.

  3. Happy Monday everybody! Hope you’re ready for this week’s constitutional crisis.

    What’s next?

    *Throws dart at board*

Looks like we’ll be showing Iran a thing or two in the Persian Gulf and maybe kinda going to war. Tune in next week on Dragon Ball America!

  4. The DOJ won’t prosecute this now, and civil (inherent) contempt is functionally toothless (certainly worth a shot, end game not clear here though), which is all the more reason for Dems to get out in record numbers in 2020, take back POTUS, keep the House, and the refile (contempt expires with the current Congress) the contempt charges with a new AG; all these Trump sycophants need to be help accountable and sent to prison as the end game here, and pay the price for obstructing the constitutional balance of powers in flagrant opposition to the rule of law

Note: back in 2009 with Pelosi and newly elected Obama, the House decide not to reissue contempt charges for those from Bush administration that avoided contempt charges with Bush’s AG, see here:

check out how long it took a judge to rule on this — about a year and a half

“Thus, Pelosi will likely go through the motions but wait to see what happens in November. If McCain is elected, she might do something before her caucus takes away her speakership; if Obama is elected, she will say, “Let’s get all this behind us so that the Congress will not be fooling around with Bush once the new president arrives.” That’s a shame – for the Bush Administration should be held accountable so that the Department of Justice’s integrity is never again compromised with such shamelessly political firings. Yet it seems that Speaker Pelosi would rather be loved than respected, and will sacrifice long-term institutional concerns for present-day popularity”

Since contempt ends with a new congress, the House under Pelosi with Obama, decided not to reissue the contempt charges — exactly as predicted in the 2008 article — and the Department of Justice’s integrity was once again compromised — we need to ensure this does not happen in 2021

  5. So how this different than when republicans held holder in contempt over fast and furious if I remember correctly. I know that was bs but I expect nothing serious to come of this.

  6. It means nothing until it actually effects the actions of the regime. These people don’t care about their reputations because their reputations are guarded by FOX. Roy Moore is back in the race for Senate. There is no shame. Impeach or jail.

  7. He also failed to charge people with the attempted Coup his President is talking about and Spying on US Citizens illegally, which Barr himself testified was a serious crime. It is illegal to have a Coup in the US. Yet Sessions, Barr and POTUS have not done anything but Tweet and Testify Publicly that it happened. I am an analogy guy, so basically you woke up today and a police officer is in your driveway and another officer drives away with your car. You saw it happen. He tells you it was stolen last night, but they can’t really write a report on it or bring charges to whomever stole it (you are screaming you stole it) and you have no car, no one is punished and the people you need to call are the thieves but they won’t admit it.

[According to 18 U.S. Code § 2385](, Advocating overthrow of Government, “Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government”

Also failed to bring charges against anyone involved in “spying” on the Trump campaign.

As Barr pointed out, the spying took place by both federal informants and secret electronic surveillance authorized by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Court.

TLDR; Our President allegedly had a Coup, Election Crimes, and people in charge, and politically motivated FBI Agents illegally used FISA courts to victimize and torment a US Citizen, his staff and family members. While he had all Three Branches of the Government and appointed the Attorney General he wanted he was unable to bring charges. So that AG steps down and he gets a new AG and still has 2/3rds of the Branches of Government and all he wants (due to trason, a failed Coup, election crimes, and abuse of National Security tools, criminal actions by FBI agents and he has jailed and charged noone with any crimes for this. While the Democrats were not in control of any Branch of the Government they were able to jail and size assets of people close to the target of the Coup. Even the man’s lawyer reports to Federal prison today. The Government that our President and his AG control have had control over for two plus years has sized money not from his people, has jailed his people. Lots of people in prison and 35+ million sized by Team Trump from Team Trump.

  8. fuck the pomp and circumstance just bring it to the floor today! Additionally enforce the contempt vote with fines or jail time. Prove that congress is in fact a co-equal branch of govt

  9. Attorney General Eric Holder was held in contempt of Congress. The legal footing for proceeding forward was on shaky ground so nothing further happened. This contempt charge is a bit different though.

  10. When people (Republicans) complain about our government not working and these investigations going on for too long, people (Republicans) need to remember that Barr could walk in, turn over the report, testify and tell the truth and this whole thing would be over but instead this will take months to play out in the courts.

  11. Barr has nothing but contempt for congress, especially the House. Contempt of congress is not a felony, Not sure what the House can do about it, except stomp their foot and holler. This administration has no respect for the rule of law.

  12. GOP: “We favor a conservative interpretation of the Constitution.”

Also the GOP: “This Constitutionally mandated legislative oversight of the executive is overreach and unprecedented!”

  13. These last two years have been like watching a train wreck… and the train is full of babies… and the babies are holding puppies… and the puppies are spooning kittens.
