  1. Shouldn’t it be directed toward Earth then? Billions on fighting climate change would be helpful. Hell; just straight up pay politicians to vote for it if you have to.

  2. Says the guy who’s delivery empire requires the shipping efforts of multiple mail, parcel, and courier services. If he wants to save the planet, he should just hook up a pneumatic tube into every building with an internet connection. (That’s a joke, Jeff, please don’t actually do that.)

  3. If you read beyond the headline, he’s actually talking about saving Earth, not escaping it:

    > “We send things up into space, but they are all made on Earth. Eventually it will be much cheaper and simpler to make really complicated things, like microprocessors and everything, in space and then send those highly complex manufactured objects back down to earth, so that we don’t have the big factories and pollution generating industries that make those things now on Earth,” Bezos says. “And Earth can be zoned residential.”

    So hold the outrage.

  4. Clickbait horseshit.

He saying that our technological innovation and manufacturing processes are screwing up the planet, so he’s investing in orbital infrastructure to allow certain complex manufacturing of things like microprocessors in space, which can then be sent planet-side without all the harmful affects usually associated with similar factories on Earth.
