  1. It’s so hysterically hypocritical. There’s thousands of people that get others to take tests for them, have an unsupervised testing center, cheat, etc. Typical ruling involving a university. Slap a couple high profile wrists and let it continue.

  2. They are saving the book for Aunt Becky, so it hits her hard. Save the years long sentence for her.

With Huffman she confessed and didn’t give all the BS excuses. It still isn’t right that a regular person gets 5 years for an address change and she get 14 days, but it’s something.

  3. A day in jail for every $1072 she paid. It’s something.

Since Lori Loughlin paid much more hopefully she’ll get much more. At this rate she would get 466 days. A few more since she pissed off the judge with her arrogance.

  4. I don’t know what the proper sentence should have been, but people saying that the message sent here is that “30K and some jail time can get their kid in a great college” are missing a crucial step:

You have to be very well connected and already rich to even be considering this crime.

At the end of the day, this won’t stop anyone from continuing to take advantage of their social economic status.

  5. I feel bad for Felicity Huffman because those kids likely could have done it on their own. FH and WHM are both pretty intelligent people. Lori Loughlin’s kids, however, didn’t have a chance going in.

  6. Essentially the court is saying that all it costs to try and cheat your kids into a good college and deprive two other students of an education they deserve is a mere fine, two week prison term and community service… oh and only if you get caught.

How is such a punishment going to discourage anyone. I know parents who would kill to get their kid in a good college, to them a two week prison stay would be a bargain.

  7. 14 days that will be reduced to 7 for good behavior. I’m guessing it will feel like an eternity for her. Why didn’t they also sentence her with a good amount of community service? I think that would have been a nice slice of humble pie for her.
